My Story
Paul’s journey has taken him from the classrooms of Washington State University, where he met his wife Wendi, to law school at Gonzaga University, and on to Billings, Montana, where he welcomed his first daughter while clerking for a Federal Judge. Eventually, Paul and his family planted their roots in Boise, where he built a successful food brokerage business and raised three more children.
Life took an unexpected turn when Wendi was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer, a battle she courageously overcame. That experience brought Paul back to journaling, reigniting his lifelong passion for writing and inspiring the reflections that shaped Gut Punch.
Paul is now eager to pay his experience forward by bringing light to an area not openly discussed, which highlights the emotional collapse that so often occurs following an intense journey as a caregiver.

Debut Novel Gut Punch: A Caregiver's Life After Normal

Life doesn’t ask permission before it turns everything upside down. In this powerful book, Paul shares the raw and inspiring story of his wife’s battle with an aggressive cancer and the way it reshaped his life as a husband, caretaker, and man searching for balance. But Gut Punch isn’t just about surviving illness — it’s about what comes after, when the dust settles and you’re left figuring out how to find your way back to a new normalcy.
Told with brutal honesty and quiet grace, Gut Punch exposes the unseen toll of caregiving and the silence that too often surrounds it - particularly for men. It's a powerful exploration of strength mistaken for wellness, resilience tangled with denial, and the long road back to wholeness.
